I once bought this powder at a store that turns into a thick gel (like jello) when added to water......dumped it into a buddy of mines toilet at a party.....whole thing looked like a clear bowl of jello...was way funny!!

Im kinda new here, so my advice might not be the best..I personally would NOT feed them FW food....you do need to supplement though...even though I only have 1 fish, I switch off from Formula One flakes...(1 or 2 times a week) and the rest I have the frozen SW multi pack...also I do skip feeding...

The white spots on your glass are most likely Spirorbidae Worms. From what I gather they are quite harmless filter feeders.
