Help me Start Right, what fish and corals?

U need Corals that only require moderate light, personally I dont think you have enough. I have a 135g with 440 Watts of VHO Light and I dont think it is enough. Candy Corals might do Ok, mushrooms, or go for one that doesnt need much at all like Sun Polyps, but remember, they need to be fed...

    Cucumber, myth or reality?

Ok people, Im dying to get a Sea Cucumber that I have been eyeing for months, it is a beautiful Red White and Blue. Being as patriotism is at an all time high it seems fitting. I have heard horror stories about these things killing everything in a tank because they were upset, or died. However...

    TOO much coralline?

Coraline algae isnt bad that I know of, in fact you will find most people on this board begging for ways to increase it. I myself am buying a calcium reactor to give mine a little boost. Inverts wont hurt it, and clean up quite well after other things.

    skimmer

In my opinion Skimmers are essential, depending on the type of skimmer you have it will most likely have a cup at the top. If it is working properly it will pick up some nasty stuff and deposit it in the cup. I have to empty my Seaclone about once a week, but usually do it more often because it...

    Are Protein Skimmers required?

Skimmers remove detrius, help in better water quality, and can even cut down on pesky water changes. Even if you get a cheap one it will help somewhat.

    candy coral

Ive had mine for a while, they are multiplied to the point where next month I am going to frag a few of them off. I feed Phytoplankton and in the mornings when they have sweeper tentacles extended I give them Brine Shrimp(frozen). They seem very happy and readily split like a Cell in the old...

    Bristle Worms

I have a Bristleworm (Fire) in my 35g. Never knew it was in there until one day when it emerged to get some food that had made it to the bottom. It is the largest I have ever seen, at 1 and 1/2 feet in overall length. I found out the hard way that it was a fireworm, my hand didnt even work for...

    Pink Plate coral

I looked this one up in my Coral Bible and it says they dont need a lot of light, just moderate. It says they are moody and dislike crabs and other things that walk over them. Also trace elements are vital to this coral. I personally dont have one yet, looking for a nice Purple one though.

    Fresh or cured live rock???

I would go with the cured, the cost differance isnt that much, great articles about it at waltsmith.com which is where pet warehouse's rock comes from. I get a lot from the LFS mostly, I can see it there.
