Another option you might consider is getting a 5 gallon jug, and buying that water they sell at Many Wal-Mart superstores that have the water treatment booth. That water is RO/DI and is run through a UV unit. And its inexpensive too, I pay 35 cent a gallon.

I voted DIY because I use a modified Seaclone. I pulled out the skinny inner tube, and cut it to about 4 inches and stuck it back in. Dramatically increased contact time, and am producing much better skimmate than it was stock.

Something else that might be a good idea is to get some 3/4" styrofoam and put it between the tank and the stand, it will help absorb some of the uneven-ness of the stand and tank. It will compress considerably once you add water, so it should not be very visible. be sure you use it all the way...

Its my understanding that all live rock needs to be cured once it reaches your home anyway, pre-cured or not. Especially if it was shipped recently. It may have done SOME curing at the lfs, but if they move alot of rock each week, it probably did not cure very much. And no, adding uncured rock...

box type hydrometers tend to vary in accuracy, you might go to one of your lfs's and ask if they have a refractometer you can test yours on. Just test a samle of water on your seatest and have them test the same sample on thier refractometer, then note the difference and keep that in mind...
