    Can this sponge be saved?

After 6-8 months of doing great, this sponge started to decline and I haven't been able to reverse decline even though I've given it more flow (but still not heavy). Any ideas?

Looking for a good base rock

i bought some reefbones at one point -- dry dead coral rock. it worked fine but for some reason the lfs's don't sell it and if you buy it online you've gotta pay shipping -- which defeats some of the point of getting the cheap rock in the first place! if you google "reef bones" it'll come up at...

    flame scallops

My problem with the scallops is that while I'm prepared to feed it with a turkey baster, they tend to find very discreet spots in the rock that are either hard to reach with the baster or impossible to find. I tried two and both eventually died, after playing hide and seek for a few months. I'm...

    Oh, to be a normie!

It is not normal to order 23 button frags on ---- when one is, fundamentally, broke, merely because the pictures look pretty. It is not normal to come home before a night on the town and find said 23 button frags on your doorstep. It is not normal to come home at 11 pm after said night on the...

    yea for peppermints!

Just wanted to post an endorsement for peppermints when it comes to dealing with aiptasia. I had a nasty outbreak in my 90g and applications of joe's juice killed individuals but they kept coming back in waves. Ordered 5 peppermints and within a week of their arrival every single aiptasia (and...

Thanks, I'll get him out. But now I'm getting paranoid about other crabs, other tanks... Ah, why can't we all just get along! :nervous:

    sally lightfoot crab question

So I have this 12g microreef which has one fish (red-headed goby, less than 1" long) and one crab (sally, about 2" across). I thought sallys were supposed to be safe tankmates, but a knowledgeable guy at a good lfs told me that ANY crab is opportunistic and can get a fish if he is big enough...

    What is this????

Well, I wasn't suggesting the vaporized -- more likely they were knocked into a crevice. At least that's what would have happened in my tank! It's a fuzzy picture, so I can't exactly say. But I do know this: There are no crustaceans or molluscs I've ever heard of that have teeth and walk around...

    What is this????

That doesn't look like anything that would eat a shroom. Are those teeth or just soft tissue? Looks like the mantle of a scallop or clam.

    leather question

So I have a leather near the bottom of a 24" tank that has lost a lot of his color but still seems to be doing OK for the past six months. Is there anyway to bring back that color? Ideas I had were to move him up higher in the tank where he'd both get more light, more water movement and less...

anyone up? SPAWN in my tank

If they are really shrimp spawn, there is nothing you can do -- there simply isn't any way, I don't think, that crustaceans with all their weird larval stages can come to maturity in a reef tank. They'll be eaten by morning, probably. My cleaner shrimp lay eggs, they hatch every few nights and...

    Algae i.d., please

Thanks all. It was actually me who bumped that cool info thread. I checked my halide timer and made the embarrassing discovery that somewho it had gone from 8 hours to 12 hours. Not sure if I did that or my son was playing with it or what, but I think that is too much! I put it to 8. Should I...
