Good for you...I guess he gets paid whether they win/lose/qualify or not. He still had to drive for them. I'll be pulling for him in the upcoming races

Yeah, he is on salary so his income is guaranteed no matter what happens, but it's the bonuses that are nice :) Depending on their finish, there is a % of bonuses that gets paid every 3 months.
Thanks for the

I figured there had to be some kind of extra $ for everyone on these teams when they win. Probably helps keep moral up and promotes teamwork.

Must be a Catch-22 for him. He is glad to be home, but he would really like to be at the race.
Also just kind of curious what he does during a race weekend? Is he the team gofer or is it more of he has to make sure he does not get hurt in any way so he can drive the team home.

Yeah he wants to be home and he wants to make the races. He was so used to always making the race when he worked with guys like Tony S, Bobby L, Jeff Purvis, Mike McLaughlin, Mike Bliss, Denny H... There really is no win/win situation for us.
His main responsibility of course is the hauler and everything that goes with it, making sure it's stocked and loaded correctly, the upkeep of it and during the weekends he is also a mechanic and chef. He used to race Formula Fords, Atlantics and stock cars so he has a very wide spectrum of knowledge and experience under his wings. That's one of the reasons he is a very sought after employee. JGR is always asking him if he wants to come back :)

Sounds like he's really well rounded...not just a driver. I'm sure with that experience, he is sought after.
So since AJ's out of the 500, who are you pulling for now?

Denny! He was the last driver with JGR that hubby worked for (Busch side, until Nov 2006). Of course we have to root for Brian V too.
He finally got home at 4am this morning and scared the crap out of me. We had agreed that I don't turn on the alarm, just turn on the double lock at the laundry door. I was so sound asleep that I didn't hear him come in, our little watch dog (yeah right) didn't make a sound, just snored next to me on the bed. I hear the cling of car keys in his pocket and open my eyes to seeing a big dark figure right in front of me in the bedroom. I about screamed my head off. If I had a weak heart, I probably would have had a heart attack. Geeezes! It's nice to have him home though. He is asleep here on the couch right now and I'm watching Psych and surfing for fun :)

Well enjoy it while you can, because if I'm going to start pulling for AJ (that is, after Jr), then his butt is going to be on the road, ALOT

He will be gone for 2 weeks starting Monday anyways, no matter how they do in California. They will have to stay there even if they don't make the race. I had hoped that if the worst comes to worse, they'd drive home and then a few days later head back to Vegas but no... Oh well. I'll be getting a lot of work done, hopefully have most of the 135g tank setup (picking it up tomorrow!!!!) and learned to run the existing 55g tank on my own without any technical help from him :)

So who's the SW fish person...you or him? Obviously you now, but has it always been you, or did he get you into this hobby? Just curious.
And if you are starting a new 135, you need to post pics and let everybody see the progress.

Spider, that is cool. It sounds like it is his truck and he is responsible for all of it. Including cleaning Denny's blood off it.

I agree with T3 that you have converted all of us to AJ fans. Of course with my track record as a Johnny Benson fan I don't know if that is a good thing for AJ. They kept showing AJ on ESPN about how bad he felt. He does seem like a pretty good guy.

We started this together and are still VERY green. After getting our 55g cycled and water params down to OK, we've only been having fish for almost 3 months. I bet you didn't see that one coming :)
We did our research for a fairly long time, checked on equipment, what our plan would be for the years to come and finally did the dive in. He is in charge of the heavy duty stuff like equipment and how everything is put together and stuff. I'm in charge of the living things, feeding, testing etc. He doesn't care what kind of fish I'm after and how much I spend on them, as long as I take care of them and am happy with my choices. In other words I'm in charge of the household.
Our really big plan is one day get our unfinished extension to the house finished, put a large tank either in the downstairs family room (with a fish room parted out from his garage or wood working shop) or a see-through tank upstairs between the game room and my new office.
Honestly we never thought of upgrading to a 135g this fast, but when I saw the tank with stand/canopy/equipment on Craigslist a few weeks ago for $600, there was no way passing it. I'll start a journal on the journey. I'm sure it's going to be a rocky one.. hehe.

Yeah, he does love his hauler. RBR purchased everything in cash last year! That means 2 Volvo race haulers, race trailers, 2 Volvo test trucks/trailers and everything else. I still can't believe they did that and didn't just lease them like all other teams do. Hubby absolutely loves a Volvo hauler. Had one with JGR for 3 years until they switch to Peterbuilts and even with those he wanted the smooth, Euro looking line instead of the chrome monster that the other truck drivers at JGR wanted.
I won't hold JB against ya! His *luck* doesn't rub off easily, at least not to a sexy thing like AJ
That one is a bit of an inside joke. Last year in one of his first TV interviews he said that *I'm bringing sexy back in Nascar*. He is such a funny, little guy

That is where my knowledge begins and ends about NASCAR. I must try to make it to Dover Downs sometime.

Dover is a BLAST! You have to make it there and you won't be disappointed. Just about every single time there is a rain delay and I love the big cargo plain the Air Force flies over the track after the opening ceremony.

Yeah, but getting there is a royal PIA. The local roads are not made to handle all the traffic. People in northern Delaware, where I live, usually go the southern Delaware to go to the beaches. Dover is sort of the 'mid point' in the drive. Beach traffic + NASCAR
traffic= roads looking like large parking lots.

Is it on yet? I never really followed Busch very much. Caught part of some news this morning...something about a car Jr. owns found to have an illegal spoiler or something. Is this a Busch car?

We just got home from getting our tank

Girls are down for their nap and we are watching MaxX on TV and not the race. I haven't suggested turning it on to the race yet... not sure if hubby would or not :)

AWESOME!!!!

I turned on the Busch race for a second and all that I saw were Cup drivers in the race. Personally I don't like that.
