also i was just warned on RC that a green clown gobie and 2 false percs is wayyy to much for a 10 gallon and it will eventually crash. what is your opinion on this? i honestly think it will be fine. especially if i get small clowns. its only going to be up and running for about a year or so
Just saw this thread.
Yes, I would agree that 2 clowns and a clown goby is too much in a 10G.

I don't see problems with it crashing. Keep up with scheduled water changes and maybe later add a sump and additional filtration. Watch how much you feed your fish. People like to cover their butts too much in this hobby. There's more than one way to skin a cat (trust me, I know because I'm a taxidermist ) lol. The people that do a lot of unconventional things get clammed so much they just stop talking and giving advice. It sucks.

A clown goby is an inch or less and adds very little to the bioload. I don't understand why it's too much if proper precautions are taken? The goby purches on rocks and doesn't move often. Doesn't need a lot of swimming room.

1) LOL... that was funny!
2) I agree... I'm just to scared to say that because I don't want to be clammed up. Lol.

that was my thinking snake. im gunna try it and like i said im gunna do my best to keep it up and running properly with water changes and frequent water tests. i guess ill just have to suck it up and say i was wrong if it ends up badly

any more thoughts on whether or not 4 18 watt t5 ho bulbs will be good enough or should i get all 6? ill probably just have soft corals for the most part. maybe a frogspawn or something as well

Buy a little at a time. Get two light for your fish. Add two more for soft corals and then add two more when you get your frogspawn. Just use a sharpie and write the date on the bulb.
Stuipid iPhone autocorrect function changed flammed into clammed up. Smart phone ain't so smart. Lol

You will have much greater odds of success if you go with Percula Clownfish instead of Ocellaris. My WAG on the odds of success for you would be 25% using Ocellaris and 75% using Percula.

I think that would be a bit much... I had 2 clowns, clown goby and a pistol shrimp/goby pair and 2 sexy shrimp in my 29 gallon and that was pushing it..
I would go for 3 tiny fish or just the 2 clowns... you could do all 3 if you had better than basic equipment and were doing 1g water changes a week probably???

ill be doing a weekly water change. ill have a skimmer at some point as well. i really just dont see how the little tiny clown goby changes things sooo much. 2 clowns would be perfectly okay but it wont work at all if i also add one of the smallest fish you can add to saltwater, that doesnt do much swimming around anyways? im gunna risk it sorry guys. ill feel like a jacka** if it turns out to bite me in the a**

Yeah I think if you added a skimmer youd be totally rockin' it and could have the clown and a shrimp or 2...
I didnt have a skimmer so that why i was thinking just that little goby (who are usually PIGS) might be to much but sounds like your on top of it!
