I like that middle picture...looks like they're posing!
LOL...That is the female lurking over the male to get him, he unsuspecting is watching me with the camera...she is a little tramp...giggling in the background just behind them, is a pregnant male who is happy to see her go for somebody else. The last picture is of the hiding spot of the #3 male....who just had his brood and is hoping for a nap before she finds him.

It's like reality tv in your tank, complete with all the gratuitous sex!
Kuda seahorse behave very different from Erectus, with the Erectus the female tried to hide. They don't dance very often either...she gets them wherever, right on the hitch. Remember these pictures...One is having babies while she gets another pregnant. I decided to call her run around Sue.

UPDATE:
I noticed my SHs kind of moved around after feeding them, and as soon as I turned back on the pumps they just kind of hitched and stayed put. I started thinking maybe my water flow was too strong, I'm used to corals. I turned off one PH. Well my horses are much more active now....poor critters they must have been holding on for dear life all this time.

Next I didn't like the way my water looked...tiny floating macro all over the tank. I took a little HOB cascade filter made for a 10g tank. It cleared the tiny particals right up. Also a new discovery...the HOB filter is not attached to the maine shut off power strip. So when I fed my horses the HOB created just enough slow motion flow to suspend the food and allow the horses to chase it a little....I have never seen them let go of a hitch and chase the food...they seem much happier. They spend the day now looking for amphipods and checking out all areas of the tank instead of just hitching to the pavalon.

You saw the post before the new pictures....they actually look the same but...here they are again. They are looking for food and just won't pose for me today.

Kuda Picture Update:
The horses stay chocolate color...well until the female comes anywhere near. Sorry about the dirty glass...I had lots of drips and I didn't realize it until I started posting pictures.
Even the horses have algae on them

So majestic

Look at the red algae on the bottom horse

The algae never seems to grow any thicker and he doesn't look unhappy at all, but it's weird

The largest...about 6 inches, he likes the top of the branch rock more than the pavalon
he is usually prego...

The female is on the other side of the pillar...

The algae is all along his back

I would say these guys are 5 inches now...they are the same size, and always seem to be together hanging
out on the pillars

UPDATE:
My Tunze nano skimmer died. I can't afford a good skimmer right now so I went on eBay...I got a "looks functional" one for $40.00 If it will hold up for a month or two I will be better set to spend $300.00+ on a good octopus skimmer like the one I have on the 90g. The 56g has a 20g sump so at best it is 75g of water. I have good macro growth which keeps phosphates and nitrates at a beautiful constant 0. With macros there is always organic matter breaking down, I can tell the difference in the way the water looks since the skimmer has been down this last month, so I have to do something.
This is the cheapo skimmer I purchased: Fingers crossed, I know we get what we pay for.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Power 32 Watt

  • Output 2000 L/H

  • 110V/60Hz

  • Max Flow Rate: 530 GPH

  • Max Tank Size: up to 100-150 gallon

  • All Hoses are included! easy to set up and maintain
    INCLUDES:
    (1) 32watts 530GPH submersible pump
    (1) Protein skimmer
    (2) Tubules (1xtra for backup)
    No assembly required

What exactly happened to the Tunze?
I have an Aquatic Life Mini Skimmer if you want to borrow it....just say the word.
I've stripped my Tunze down before....it's a surprisingly simple design. Unless the motor is fired (in which case you should COMPLAIN!!) I would love to see if we can work your problem out.

Heh, you know what skimmer I use that has been the most "reliable" besides my Tunze?
The el-cheapo HOB fuge/skimmer I bought offa the bay. It came with a venturi style skimmer with a needlewheel. It's currently on my 20g, and it skims like a mofo. Of course, there's a dino problem in that tank, so there's a LOT to skim. :-

LOL...I have spent a small fortune on skimmers, if that $40.00 cheapo works I will be doing the happy dance for sure. The very thought that maybe, just maybe it will work....you give me hope.
I replaced the pump on the Octopus. I have grainy silt that builds up in the sump and I think it clogs up the pumps. I now have a little filter in the sump to protect them. I'm really bummed about that little Tunze...it really did a great job. I think I gave away or sold really cheap my Aquatic life mini skimmer...I used it on the 30g but it was really too small for the 56g so I didn't keep it....dumb really since something is better than nothing.
I have a cyano problem starting in the pot belly tank. In the 56g I had dino only on the tallest part of the feeding station, so I removed it, and no more dino. It collected only on that little seahorse dish I purchased and attached to the one column. I also had a small amount of hair algae that grew on the overflow...the macros out compeated it for nutrients...whew, I felt like I had dodged a bullet there.

Well I got the skimmer...in record time. It has no way that I can find to adjust it, it came with no instructions...just a list of parts. It pulled a cup of water up into it within seconds and nothing I could find to stop it. I contacted the maker and all they told me was to make sure the power heads was 3 inches underwater and that it takes time for a skimmer to break in...duh....but even breaking in you get some micobubbles in the chamber. Oh well.
I sent it back for refund. I was real tempted to keep it for the power head...it was a nice heavy duty one, and worth $40.00 bucks but it made by a place called SKY and who knows how long it would last. Not to mention the skimmer folks would think they made a useful product. Cost me$17.90 to ship it back...so I lost $20.00
