LOL--I can tell you are stressed--bottle of TUMS setting on your desk!
LOL..I am a true worrier....however....I have been in pain from my feet, back and knees for many years, I have lived on Aspirin...it ruined my stomach. I have no tolerance for the stronger meds, they make very sick. So Tums and Pepcid are forever close at hand. Now that I'm retired I don't need to take so much aspirin to push through a work night, but the damage is done.
Well now the sump...LOL...a fixit lady I am not. I don't know if I should post my adventure here, or on the make me laugh thread.
It goes a bit like this...
First screw up..I put my 20g tall tank in first, then my DT on top...STUPID me did not put the baffles in...so guess who gets to sit in the floor to try and put them in...that's right...me, the one who can just almost get off the floor on my own. Not to mention my knees are shot and I can't stay on them more than a few minutes at a time

Mistake number two...I didn't test it for water leaks...I so hope it holds water....it is already under the stand, and it isn't coming out unless I use my hammer and then I will go with a canister filter and forget a sump.
I have baffles cut...the mess I made with silicone on my first sump project, was so horrible looking, and my hands are very weak, so squeezing the tube is hard for me. Saxman mentioned a way to seal the baffles using EPDM weather striping. Well I couldn't use the right size baffle because the striping squeezed too tight...so I have the baffles cut just a bit smaller.
TOO small now...the baffles are too loose to seal by a mere fraction. I get the grand idea to use the foam to seal the baffles in place...need I bother to explain what a mess I made? Well...it won't be coming out, and I do believe it is sealed now for sure.
I put only one baffle in. I read I needed at least one to keep the skimmer chamber water at a certain level. The foam went everywhere, I had to work fast because the knees were screaming at me...so I take my bare hand, no gloves and try and scoop the over spray...Now keep in mind, I can't get up...I use my arms to pull myself off the floor and now my hands are a sticky mess. Yeah, that was fun
For the refugium section...since my last idea was pretty messed up. I decided to try using silicone, and because the glass is too loose, and I didn't want to waste the piece. I decide to angle the glass and make a corner refugium, all I want it for is a safe haven for amphipods and copepods....well mistake number three... I get black tar looking silicone for fish tanks, not the clear, I squeeze the tar along the three edges and set it into place...
And wouldn't you know... it kept falling over....yes another beautiful Debbie mess, in tar black this time. I'm so glad it is under cabinet. My first messy sump now looks like a true masterpiece compared to this one. If I had the tank out in a comfortable possition it would have turned out much better, but on my knees...I had to work fast and get up off them. I try and reseal the one side...it's holding but it isn't a good seal. So I will have to get down there again and finish up....but not tonight.
So I'm not finished, I can't get on my knees anymore for the night, maybe for the rest of the week... no doubt I will need my cane to walk tomorrow.....

I gave my mother the bigger bedroom. The poor dear has lost so much after my fathers death, she has a cherrywood big desk and a filing cabinet she charished, the bigger room allows her to keep them. She had a huge rooms in her house, when she came to live with me she had to let so much go. She was a secretary all her life and kept quite an office of her own and felt lost without that in her life. I really don't care that she only plays scrabble on the computer and solitary. My little room is plenty of space for me...just not for more than one fish tank.

I love the way the tank looks with the columns in place! It will definitely look great when it takes the place of the other tank. Your idea of the single column with the seahorse feeding bowl was very cute, and it looks like the resin horses will make perfect hitching points for the real ponies.
But....yeah. We need to get in there and Feng Shui your room, hon.

Oh, BTW I should give you a heads up. I may STEAL some of your column ideas when I get around to setting up the pipefish tank. I've got a whole "sunken Atlantis" idea rolling around in my head now....thanks to you!

LOL...My poor room....you have no idea how hard this has been...I'm a neat freak. Even the "dirt" (Hair Algae) in the tank bothers me. I can't even hook up my desk top computer that my brother repaired, I'm still using the laptop. I do see the light at the end off the tunnel...I just hope it isn't a train.
Nova, I stole the idea from Teresa. I don't think it's all that original, or there would not be a whole line of fish tank decor dedicated to Roman/Greek Columns...and...LOL...I even found a fake plastic Roman Column background.
The whole idea of the feeding dish was to give the horses some hitches to hold while they eat...the other dish I tried attaching plastic plants, macro...nothing would hold for long, they landed up holding tails and wallowing in the dish.. So now I have the horsey one...Now to train the horses to go up higher for their food, they are used to the bottom of the tank.

The Atlantis thing may be done and overdone ad nauseum, but the idea of having the columns hold up some live rock was the part that stirred my imagination, and seems very original on your part. I like that.

Did you say the tank is ready????
Yes it's all cycled and done, I checked and rechecked. All that's left is to transfer the plumbing for the sump from the 30g to the 56g. For right now the tank is running on the Cascade canister filter. I transferred the fish first, and then it's the horses. I will post pictures when it's all done.
I'm still working on the sump for the 56g. I made a huge mess of it.

Looks like they love the coliseum
They do, I think it's the bubbles... They have been hanging out in it all day. I just seeded the rocks with amphipods...Once the horses figure out that they are there, they may find a new hang out. I'm just glad they adjusted so quickly...I waited until late. They were happy to eat and I know if they eat, they will be okay. I have managed to catch three of the shrimps...I had five in there, maybe two died..... I don't see them anywhere.
I acclimated them real slow. I have not moved any snails, I have the 30g still running but with lights off. I want the fan worms but not the hair algae attached to them.
I have a ton of copepods and amphipods...any tips on how to get them out of there? I paid for the ones I seeded the 56g with, but I sure would like to get some out of the tank. After setting up the light, It's brighter than I thought it would be, they are plenty strong enough. So I think I can return my Kenya tree in there as well, I already put a couple of mushrooms in.
I had such a laugh when the one puffed up at the fake SH....He got over it fast enough.

I think it has a classic look to it Flower - I really like it. Do you have a filter sock run it on your 30 from the discharge of the pump. Maybe stir thing up just a little to get them moving.

Thanks Al, I have been using a mesh bag on the overflow hoses, catching hair algae to try and stop it from getting in the return pump...I bet I have some in there already.
