New 56g tall tank

It's just plain cold here...I got the top tank emptied of water. I don't know what to do with all the sand. Its full of extra nutrient, but it's live reef sand. I have no use for it because I replaced it in the SH tank. I pulled the rock wall right off. If I can clean it up enough it would be great to keep it...fells like it weighs a ton.
So I have not yet reclaimed my room....LOL...but I'm working on it.

If I ever want to upgrade another fish tank again somebody please just shoot me.
I have scooped water and sand until I feel blind...I have gloves because I'm afraid of bristle worms and I found about three in the SH tank as I broke it down, there was not supposed to be any in there...I kind of figured they were there.. I couldn't get the rock wall out without busting it into two sections, I couldn't lift the tank with all that rock in it by myself...I took a hose to the pieces and they washed clear. I may have a use for them some day and rock will keep.
Getting hoses lose that have cemented onto the equipment is no laughing matter. That phosphate reactor reminds me of my first canister filter, what a nightmare to losen the top, I was beginning to think I would have to toss it. I have no man here, and if I can't open something it just won't get opened.
Then trying to remove the 30g long tank through my tiny super congested bedroom....AAAHHH
I have been cleaning equipment as I go, because I didn't want to transfer any hair algae ... I look at my new SH tank and, a few snails have it on them. I could just cry.
I have to go to the hardware store today and get some purple primer for PVC...my little can was empty, it must not have been closed tight enough. I got the return 2Quills made for me cut and ready to reglue to the new shorter size. I'm going to stay with the spray bars but I'm going to drill the holes toggled to create a better cover area with flow instead of a straight line.
Between old fish tank smell and puppies...my house stinks...and this evening begins the High Holiday of Rosh Hashana (Jewish new year), my house is not ready.

LOL...I will hold you to it.
Setting up a new tank isn't too bad, it's the breaking down one while trying to set it up for the other at the same time.
It has developed that brown algae stage...I hate that, but I know it's all part of the process. I don't remember how long it lasts. My rock wall had coraline started in many places, such a shame to not have that wall...it's in a two large pieces and I could add one to this tank, but horses are so timid and I don't want to risk getting them too stressed out.
I rinsed that wall for an hour under a high pressure water hose, all the nasty is cleared off, but nothing is alive on it anymore. It's still a beautiful wall.

Well, my tank is back on canister life support. I had a leak.
I had clamps for every hose but the last one, I used zip ties but I guess I couldn't get it tight enough. I am so disgusted. My back is a mess, I can't fix with it right now. I ordered some plastic clamps, no hardwarer stores around here have them. By the time they get here my back should be good enough to take it all apart and fix it.

Atticus will eat them. My poor grandkids can't get a single playmate to come to the house. I wouldn't let a kid mess with the tank anyway. Alyssa is 15, and I ask her to do many things, but nothing with the tanks. LOL...I let my daighter help me with some live rock once.
I ordered some plastic clamps, my back should be mobile by the time they arrive.

Thanks Traveler.
Meowzer, my grandkids came for the weekend and brought a girlfrind to go to Great America with them. (I live 3 minutes from that place) well I have had to keep Atticus in my room or a muzzle on him, he found out the little girl (13 years old) is afraid of him, and he has been nothing but a YOU KNOW WHAT all weekend. I told my daughter to not bring any more extra kids because the dog is just too unpredictable. He only like HIS kids.
I wish I could get him to not be so ornery. It really isn't funny, he could hurt someone. With my back out I can't hold him and get him to understand the child is no threat. That is what I usually do and after half an hour all is peaceful...this weekend has been a nightmare. He listens and goes to my room on command, but as soon as my back is turned he lunges at the kid (muzzle on) I shudder to think what would happen if he were to bite a kid.

Flower, I'm so sorry about your filter problems and your back! I hope it gets back together as soon as possible. I don't know your dog personally, but it sounds like he is protecting his people when he does that. I know male rotties were almost always much more protective of the women in our house than the men, and G-d help when a man cam in the house uninvited. It took a few weeks for my future wife's dog to finally accept me as part of the family... Almost Longer than my future mum-in-law!
