Well she is still really tired.....she went once in the house while we were at work today......of course NOT on the puppy pads I left out and OF COURSE hubby did not clean it right :(
she is just "different" I am hoping that in time she regains some of her old personality.....right now she reminds me of a bitchy old woman...she even tried to bit Meowzer
that will NOT work......I feel so bad for her though.....I know this is a long recovery.....so I have to be PATIENT (OMG I HATE THAT WORD)

awww, give her time, she's been through a lot. I'm sure she still doesn't feel 100% and won't for some time :-( Poor thing.

I know.....that's what I was telling my husband earlier.....I know it is a long road to full (hopefully full) recovery, BUT I would love to see a little sign of the real Pixie :(
I don;t work Thurs-Sun, so maybe the next few days with me spoiling her will help.....LOL...I have to carry her out ....and in.....she has my # HAHA

Is she still on high dose steroids? They can turn a nice person into a proper A-hole during the treatment. Could be the same for dogs.
I'm sure she's still tired and feeling blah... being sick doesn't bring out the best in many.
I'm glad she's doing better.

Yeah....she takes a 20mg prednisone a day, 1/2 in the a.m......1/2 in the p.m. + antibiotics
she is still really tired.....and nowhere near herself :( I know they said this would be a lengthy recovery though.....it's just sad to see her like this...
she will go out, and run 3 steps and just stop......a little bit...takes a lot out of her. If she knows I am by the door....she stands there and I will go out and carry her in....lol...she is spoiled, but still pretty sick....

That is a lot of steroid to be taking. If you think she is worn out now, wait until she goes through the steroid withdrawal process.

UGH....I know I have to be prepared for months of this too :( She is so pitiful looking...PLUS I am having a problem with her peeing in the house SHE NEVER ever did that
I thought she was getting better, but last night she went in my room 3x
I have been up since 5 a.m.......every time I heard a sound I took her out.....and she still hit the floor....NO PADS....and I had 4 of them out....LOL....SMARTORL.....you were right...she went either right next to the pad, or partially pad and carpet

I took the water out of our bathroom, and I think tonight she is going to stay in the bathroom.....I don;t think she will complain much (I HOPE) she seems too tired to care.....BUT I feel bad for Rosie.....I won't put her in the bathroom......she should not be punished cause Pixie is sick (unless she wants to be with Pixie). I'm not gonna close the door either....I will just put up a gate or something....
I'll take her next week for the next blood test......so I guess depending on the levels will depend on the doses of steroids we continue with.....I really have no clue

Hopefully they will be able to pull the steroid dose down. The alternative of too little steroid given is not good. I suspect she will have the steroid dose cut in half weekly for the next 2-3 weeks. However, many of these guys are on low dose (for her size dog...5mg once daily or every other day) for a month or more depending on her blood counts. Take up the water at night. The other dog will adjust or put down shaved ice/ice cubes to limit their water intake slightly if needed. Also, the steroid is blocking the immune system from destroying it's own blood cells (good) but it also reduces the immune system's ability to fight infection. Even though she is on antibiotics you might consider at least bringing a urine sample from her on your next visit 'just in case' they want to examine it for signs of a urinary tract infection.
I would hope the jaundice is greatly reduced by now. This is one visual way of knowing that blood cell destruction is way down and that her kidney function is good as it is clearing the bilirubin out of her system.

HEY AL......I have a question.....her food intake is great ...water too....yellowing seems to be getting better...BUT
WHY does she always pant????? AND also this sluggishness....How long could I expect her to be like this???
I did take the water bowl out of my room.....and last night I put BOTH....YES BOTH dogs in the bathroom.....I know I said I would not put Rosie in there, BUT I felt more guilt leaving Pixie by Herself....They were ok...first they just looked at me thru the gate :( then they went to sleep...until 4 a.m. :( where they BOTH whined to go out.....let them out....put them back in the bathroom.....till 8 a.m......and they both went out again....that time I did not put them back in there.....AND NO PEEEEEEE YAYYY......SO I will do this for a few nights I guess, and as long as she doesn't do anything, then I guess I won't anymore......
The only thing is this week husband is on days too,......so the dog will be home alone all day.....SO I HOPE AND PRAY....she is good in the house all day....I block off my room and the hall to the other bedrooms, so she has the kitchen and the LR.....
