people, it amazes me how blind people are. most people on this thread are beating up the unions for our economy. but they seem to forget about the ceos taking multi million dollar pay and bonuses as their companys are failing. its not the unions. car people hurt their selfs years ago by making 0 percent financing. when that started i told everyone that was going to hurt. now everyone has a newer car so for the last few years they havent sold many cars. so its not unions its the companys their selfs. what about the high insurance rates, high utilities, high fuel, high food, and what about wall street, all of these collage graduates committing fraud and are in trouble (read the news) they have rob us of billions. why is it you want to blame the little guy. i would think if i was a ceo of a company (college graduate) i would be smart enough to fix it before it broke.

Sounds like you're jealous because you couldn't commit a white collar crime yourself...

Well, the thread was specifically about unions, not CEOs. If a company wants to pay their CEO multi million dollars a year, thats fine...it's a capistalist society. When these CEOs run their company to the ground, that's their fault...another part of capitalism.
The whole discussion was whether we felt unions were good or bad.

Instead of hijacking a thread about Unions
, start your own thread about CEOs if you'd like.

I must have missed the posts where unions were blamed for the current state of the economy. I don't recall unions voting to outsource jobs or approve Clinton's free trade agreements.

I first got turned off to unions back in the early 80's. My brother was a drywaller working part time. One non union job he was working had a few of the trucks vandelized after a friendly warning from the union and then on another job they had some guys kicking ladders and tables out from under guys. One guy broke his wrist in a fall so the guy running the job parked his truck across the access road to keep the mobsters out. Well it turns out the cops are in a union too so they hauled the guy off. It got pretty nasty.
My experience in my own job was during that same period. A woman I worked with had her job threatened because her husband crossed a picket line for his job (he used to work for the company so the Union guys knew him). At the same time you had the slug employees making the same wages as those who kicked ass and did the job right. As far as I am concerned nobody who does there job right and goes the extra mile to get things done will do better in a union job.
Back before the government had workplace rules and such the unions did a lot of good. In the last couple decades they have just become a political action committee.

i know that there is good and bad about the unions, but the unions are about the people. if it wasnt for the unions these companys ceos would still make their millions but the worker would work for 10 dollars a day
