High readings of alkanlity in a new set up,is common.Just give it a chance.The start up of a tank is a hair pulling time.

Yes, they seem to do better if put in at the same time,but i thing that the most new fish at a time is only two,so then what if you wish to have more.Tangs can seem to be geing a long, and then it can all change.They are very much territorial.

The only buffer i use is for the ph and the alkalinity,and you only add this when needed alway's check your water before adding more.

Feeding twice a day is not a good thing,especially if your feeding alot both times. I ffed every other day,for the main meal,and on the other days i just give them a pinch of flake food.If you continue to feed alot twice a day,your goin to have alot of trouble,unless you have great filtration.

Just add water,the salt doesn't evatorate just the water does.Only add salt when doin water changes.

All i can tell you,about them is that they require a lot of light,and they seem to prefer to be on the bottom,instead of on a piece of rock.They are beautiful,to look at.
