Dude.... is that $600 for 100# of LR :scared: .... that's alot of $$$$$$ if you look at this site. you can get ~135-150 of figi for that same price from this site! Also... look into a reef ready tank (Drilled tank). this way you don't have to deal with an external overflow box. and it's...

the brown stuff is more than likly Diatoms (SP?) and it should go away....

if you don't have any.... go by a piece of rubble with a lot of it. small LR will do. put it in a high flow area on the bottom of you tank. every 2 day scrub it with a tooth brush. that will kick start you growth.

I think you may need to change those 250w to 400w X4. 30" is a deep tank. anything over 24" you should us 400 Watter's... Just my $.02 :thinking:

Well my next ??? would be... were did you get your LR from... if you got it at the LFS that it was most likly cured already and that is why your Cycle went so fast. I would still go very slowly. start with just a few crabs because it can spike at any time with any new additions until it is stable.

Have you looked at it in the middle of the night. I have one that opens when the lights go off????? Not sure y but that's what it does?

it's possible... you may want to looking into a chiller... Heat & evaperation will be your biggest problem.

Are you willing to DIY your canopy? If so then jsut pick up 3 x 250w MH and combine that with you PC and you should be done. you might be able to pick up 3 Balast for about $300... that's not bad.

the more often you do them the beter you water quality will be. I have a 125 and I do ~5g every 4 days. I would say.... try doing 3 or 4g every week. it just makes life easier when you do them more often!

What are the dem. of the tank and what are you trying to keep?

the DI system will remove anything that the RO does not.... but I've never had my RO water have Natrates??? how old is your ro unit?

Sound good to me. I'm running 2 X 250w MH and they are 11" of the water surface.
