    MH 250W and electricity bill

A 250 watt would be great. IMO 2 would be even better. You would be able to keep almost any kind of coral you wanted.

    Recommendations on return pump

I just moved this post from reefs(no replies), so I thought I would move it here. I need recommendations for a return pump for my 150 gal. reef. I have 2 built in overflows with 1 in. drains and 3/4 in. returns. Don't know what the overflows are rated for. My return pump died tonight, so I need...

    Moray Eel!

IMO a SFE would be fine with those fish. To be honest, I sometimes wonder how mine could ever survive in the wild. He is blind as a bat! He does have a excellent sense of smell and seems to find his food that way. He leaves my small fish alone. They swim right past his nose, even when he is in...

    Caulerpa Question...

I have razor and grape caulerpa in my refugium. It grows quite fast with lower current and I have 50 watts of NO lights on a 35gal tank. No special care is needed other then harvesting. I just yank out hand fulls. Also pull out any discolored plant. I didn't anchor it down, but it anchors itself...

What is my reef doing to my furnace?

I just recently posted a topic along these lines. I have dumped over $375 into furnace repairs this winter, and the furnace repair man is blaming the problem on humidity from my fish tanks. Since I replaced my dehumidifier, I haven't had any problems with the furnace , so I think it is helping...

    Retro fit lighting question

I bought a retrofit pc kit from them, and it included everything you would need to install them into a canopy. They send directions that were easy to follow. Bulbs were not included. I bought a 2X96 watt retrofit kit and had absolutely no problems. Hope this helps.

    couple of snowflake eel questions

I have an 18 inch SFE in my 150. He gets along fine with the fish and my cleaner shrimp. The cleaner is always picking at the eel and I think the eel likes it. The biggest problem with them is at feeding time. He likes to knock things over when looking for food. Nothing is more irritating, then...

This post is more to vent , then for info. I am sure there has to be people out there that can relate. Since winter began, moisture has been a problem in my house. I am getting condensation on everything cool. Windows, outside door hinges, door handles, etc. Anything that gets cooled off from...

Hey everyone, what do you think of my tank so far?

I can't believe no one has noticed a problem with your set up! The couch is not facing the tank!! LOL. Actually, it really looks nice. The mirrored wall really adds a lot too the setup. I am jealous.

    Friday night 6 pack

Nice pics! In the 4th pic, what is the scientific name of the orange doughnut. I have a coral that looks exactly like it, but can't find a name for it. It was sold as a brain coral.

    powercompact lighting

You should change them about once a year, but you might want to change them at intervals. If you replace them all at once, the tank inhabitants will have to be acclimated to the new lights. Maybe just reduce the photo-period for a couple weeks, gradually increasing time bacvk to what you have it...

Colt Frag - Does it look right?

Looks good. Looks like a big frag. It should take about a week or two, then you can remove the toothpick.

    Dumb reef questions part II

#1. For a clean-up crew, I would go with 10-12 hermits(I like blue legs and zebras, mix as you like), and some snails. In a 20gal., I would put about a half doz. astreas and a turbo snail. I don't know about emeralds, but 3 in a 20gal. seems crowded. Snails do better for me on algae control...

    Advice for my 120

I think I would have to agree with jamesurq. I would really consider making the base of the stand as deep, front to back, as the tank. A 120 gallon tank is awfully heavy and you would want it equally supported on all 4 sides. Other then that, it looks like it will be a nice setup.
