    live rock turning white

I would suggest that you check your calcium levels. Also, I was wondering how long did it take for you to change your light bulbs and are they the same type? White usually means that the coralline algae is missing something vital...usually calcium or sufficient light. Good luck

I just got a lettuce nudi

Hey Entice: I had a nudibranch as well...got it from this site. It lasted about 2-3 months...didn't eat too much algae..hair or otherwise. It reminds me of a very very slow slug that moves quickly only when it feels danger. My nudibranch was green like your pic. I hope you have better luck than...

    frogspawn?

I just bought a frogsprawn recently and one stem is doing exactly the same thing...the tissue looks discolored and is falling away. I noticed that from the minute I placed the coral in my tank. I have several stems and the others are doing well. Stay off the iodine if you are doing small water...

I have a bright yellow cup coral which is more saucer shape. I have it under MH around the middle to top of the tank. The polps really like it much better. I also send brine shrimp to it and some of the polps do catch and digest it when they have a chance. Good luck. I believe it is a LPS...

    New lights, New problems.

I think the first thing you should do is reduce the number of hours for your new lighting and allow your tank to slowly build up. I had the same problem when I upgraded my lighting from NO to PC lighting. I would suggest cutting your lighting time down to 5 hours a day and allow your tank to...

Lawnmower blennie, do they eat flakes or frozen foods?

Entice- Be careful about get a LMB since a good majority will only eat algae. I got one from 6th and that is all he eats in my tank. I don't know if you were going to 6th to get it but no one else carries a LMB around here...not even Nippon when I went to check. Besides making sure you have...

    Lights

how many gallons is your tank? As for clams, you really should be getting metal halides eitherwise the colors will not be as nice. Depending on how large your tank is....I think you might need to get more light for hard SPS corals since they will probably not do well in your tank.

    Metal Halide Lighting System

Entice-I will be stopping by Nippon in the next couple of weeks to check out their light systems. If you see any metal halide hood systems before I get there, can you keep an eye out for their prices? I am building a new reef tank that can support hard corals so I am spending a little more on...

I'm dyin' here.. how long should it take my 30 to completely cycle?

welcome to the board. If you are getting some new PC lighting from your friend this weekend, I think you might experiece a mini-algae bloom since new light usually results in a fine green algae building along your tank walls, etc. I would suggest you hold off on getting anything until it passes...

    Acropora Color

I know about the tissue loss from another thread I started. It turned out that the Acropora was still under stress or may have been bad due to the LFS. I was mainly curious about the color question. My coral is turning from a dark brown to a lighter shade of brown/yellow so I was wondering if...

    Acropora Color

I bought an Acropora last week. I went through a mini-stress issue with tissue loss for parts of the Acropora but now I have two major pieces with multiple small pieces that are brown. The one closest to the light is getting lighter brown while the other piece which is somewhat close to the...

filter pad changes and resulting cycle

Typically, you don't really want to change your pads--it will create a mini cycle since the new pads will need to re-build your bacteria. I made the same mistake until I got some advice from more experienced reefers who said to just take some tank water and just rinse your pad out in the water...
