Hey MARINEROCK:
Thought I'd give you an update. Skimmer seems tuned in and the clarity of the water is finally coming back. Here's some pics:
First no flash
Hey ROCK; the pvc union is threaded on both sides. One side can go to mag and the other you can either use and threaded/slip adapter or a threaded barb if you're going with tube.
Here's a pic
Same setup I have (125 with mag 12 for return, even the nautilus TE:) )
What are you keeping in the tank? Reef, FO? How is your rockwork? Did you mean you have those powerheads available to use if you need? I didn't see them in your sump so I think that's what you mean.
The main thing you...
I think the trigger, lion and hogfish would go great. Might leave off the grouper only because it gets very big. I think you could even add a couple more if you're careful. Like an eel or other medium size fish that can hold his own.
Let us know what you do and Good Luck!
ROCK, yep definitely want the top sealed. He even managed to get between the glass and top of the overflow. Got himself stuck in the overflow until I freed him. Has a great appetite and eats frozen krill and silversides along with pieces of shrimp. Gets along with the others but is...
Well.....As you know, Jim is a piece of work. He knows his stuff but at times he can be over the top. My wife cuts his hair so we trade his haircut for store credit. Mostly use it for water. He's expanded his store so if you haven't been there in a while you might want to check it out...
Bo; No, I shared the wealth.
Picasso, Valentini, Niger and Wolf Eel from Jim at Aquarium Fantasies, Wrasse from Tien and unpictured SFE and Vclitans from Gordan.
Did you read my post on directions to Tien and the new LFS here in Prattville?
ROCK. Thanks for the advice. I did move my returns as you suggested. Made a difference. I don't think any new sand is being stirred up.
The eel is a wolf eel.
Actually not a moray. It's a dottyback. Really cool fish. Always hungry.
Cheers
ROCK. Finally got most of the sand settled. I just raised the outflow tube a hair a few minutes ago. I think we got it under control. Posted a group shot a few minutes ago. The water still isn't crystal but I figure it'll be a few weeks. Probably still have some bacterial and algea blooms...
Good question!
I imagine if you soaked the shrimp in some Zoe or Zoecon which provides essential vitamins it would be a nutritious meal.
Any experts out there?
I think the valentini would be a great addition. They can handle themselves with bullies and shouldn't outgrow the 45. The dwarf lion I'm not sure of. Might want to make a lunch out of your clown someday. Perhaps another active fish like one of the smaller wrasses or a dottyback would add...
Hawks to me are like oscars. They "always" look hungry. Try to avoid the temptation to overfeed. They're ominivore's so they'll take about anything. I feed ours prime reef flake and a couple of silversides every couple of days.
Great fish with loads of personality.
Good Luck!
