    Disgusting Black Stringy Algae? (pics)

Its cyano. Try shutting off the lights for a couple of days. Reduce feeding and a water change. Make sure that you have no dead spots in the tank. When all else fails call in Antired. I had to use it. IF you do, please read the bottle and follow exactly. Your zoo's and any zenia's will look bad...

    Skimmer Breakin Time

Thanks for the quick response. I was wondering where I need to set the amount of air coming in. Right now I tightened it all the way and then backed it off a turn and a half.

    Skimmer Breakin Time

I just started up a new Sapphire Auatics BC29 Skimmer on my BioCube. How long should it be before I start seeing Skimate? After just one hour I'm already seeing a lot clearer tank.

do the products theyhave fo red slime work?

You seen my post about my kid spilling food in my tank. The current took the uneaten food to the left hand coroner and BOOM cyanobacteria. I did notice that there was a little sunlight coming in the blinds in the room. It was shining right where the cyano was.

do the products theyhave fo red slime work?

I'm thinking it might be a quick raise in temp by a couple of degrees. I know that in the business I'm in that 2 degrees higher makes H2S levels raise. Again bacteria. I just think its strange that in the spring and early summer we see more cyano post.

do the products theyhave fo red slime work?

I'm seeing that cynobacteria is common in the spring. I wonder if some of it could be caused from temp flux. You know summer coming and you kind of hate to turn the air conditioning on to soon. Just a thought.

    Best Saltwater Book

I have this book and it is a must read. It is very easy to understand and straightforward. There are a lot of pro's and con's so you can make correct decisions later.

I think most say to take out any carbon and some say run the skimmer and some say don't. So be sure to read and reread.

    Cynobacteria Problem...

Yes Antired is reef safe and a Med. It's German so everything is in mL and the like for dosing. I would for sure try the natural method first with the water changes, lighting, feeding and see what happens.
