the rock came from the other persons tank, to outside. It was introduced to my tank as dead rock (or so i thought) only after baking in the sun for a few weeks.

I bought some lr from someone that was moving out of state that was really nice, but covered in aptasia. I took the rock, used a 1600psi powerwasher on it and then left it out in the sun for around 2 weeks. completely dead rock now right!?? Fastforward 5 weeks and I found one little aptasia...

I had a major bloom of coraline when i moved to my PC lighting. Also agree that the hair algaes dont grab hold of the rock where your coraline is already established

cant answer the sand/cc question, but I would be concerned about keeping it in a 65 gal tank. I would think that would be a bit small

I would say you are ok for FO. I would raise it a bit (1.023-1.025) if I were adding any coralso or inverts.....

Took the boys to see Finding Nemo over the long weekend (finally). Now all they talk about is getting a clown fish, but what is worse, is that they keep asking in "whale". They (the boys) are for sale........:D

Keep reading and learn to take care of the tank yourself. It is nice to be able to pay others for somethings, but I think you will get more out of the hobby by taking care of all aspects of it. If the guy is knowledgeable, ask him questions as he is cleaning it. Find out as much as you can...

I "prep" her for the major expenses (like when I bought new lights), but just buy want I want otherwise. If she asks, I tell her, but I don't announce any additions because then I get the look.

Will rubberbanding it with mesh work for xenia? I would think that would kill it. I would take a few small rocks and place them at the bottom. Put the xenia on top and then cover it with a drinking glass to keep the current from blowing it off. Covering with the glass has helped my mushrooms...

mostly the $$$$. This is NOT a cheap hobby.
