I would also avoid damsels. They are hardy but they are also nasty. Mine beat up on every new fish after my tank was cycled. The domino damsel seemed to be the most agressive. I would cycle with a raw shrimp rather than the damsels.

I have 4 powerheads in my 55gal. I have placed my feather duster in a couple of different spots but it's hard to avoid the current - will my f.duster be ok? It's seems to be moving quite a bit in the current.

I buried the foot of my new feather duster in the sand. This morning he uprooted himself and is laying on the sand bed. Will he keep slowly moving until he finds a "happy place". Do they dislike lots of current? Should I move him?

They are herbivores....have you checked your parameters? That is often the cause of color loss.

I also believe that it helps to use RODI water. I buy distilled water from the store (for now) and it works just as well. I have also moved my tank to a darker area and seem have less diatoms. :)

:) The bubbles are a good thing! I had the same concern when I started my tank. The bubbles are a sign of a maturing tank - where are you in your cycle?

I'm not sure, but, I guess I would ditch the filter and invest in some LR. I have a 75 gal. FOWLR and all I have is 4 power heads and a skimmer. My inhabitants have been happy for over 2 years. Keep the bio-load down, feed correctly and be consistent with water changes. :)
