Diamond Goby or Fighting Conch or other?

I'm trying to decide on what to buy to keep my sand bed cleaner in my 75 FOWLR tank w/ 1" of sand. I've read various opinions and I'm leaning toward either a DBG or Fighting Conch. Do you think the DBG will eat all the good stuff in my sand? Will a few Fighting Conchs really keep the sand clean...

missing fish and other newbi issues/questions VERY LONG

Be careful stiring up your sand, if it's got a lot of debris in it (and I bet it does) and you stir it up you may cause a bad ammonia spike. I use a sand vac but only do one small area at a time and really make sure that anything I pull up goes out. As for the glass, there isn't much that a good...

    Help please

I had this same problem when I built mine. It didn't look like there were any bubbles in the pump chamber, but I was still getting micro-bubbles in my DT. The only way I stopped it was with the sponge, now it runs great. If it's not a pump sucking air somehow deal, then you may have to alter...

    Beginner fish advice please

If your feeling adventurous get youself a Fuzzy Chiton for the CUC. They are sereiously weird looking but man do they do a great clean up job. I have two and they each stay in their own area and keep it spotlessly clean. My LFS store special ordered mine under $10.

You should consider a no crab CUC. I've banished most of mine to the refugium and the snails could not be more grateful.

Starting my first setup, please help!

Looks good! Conditioned tap water is a very bad idea. You really really need to use RO/DI water for topoffs and for water changes. You can buy it from the fish store fairly cheap if you can't get a filter yet. Now that you have fish I'd watch for a slight ammonia spike, monitor it closely. I'd...

Does the LFS Lie on Purpose?

I've probably spent twice as much money on this hobby because of bad advice my LFS has given me over the years. We all know the stories. I've started wondering if they do it on purpose or do they just not know what they're talking about. You tell the LFS that you have a bucket of salt water and...
