    xenia under attack?

Hmmm.... Where to begin with you :) Xenia is a soft coral. Yes anemones will sting any other coral that is near them. Fish as well for that matter but rarely will an anemone kill a fish. Fish know to avoid anemones so i wouldn't worry about it. As far as corals go. You need to let the...

    10 gallon powerhead?

Rio 50 is nice and small. I use it in my 12 gallon and it does the trick. Its not noisy like the other RIO but after a year the suction cups tend to give out pretty easy. Mine have. You could also try the rio 80 or 90 i think it is. Slightly more GPH same size. A little louder but not...

    Good or Bad????

Those look like pc lights. I didn't see the spectrum of light they put out. It looked like 4 or 5 maybe 55 watters in one bulb.... I don't know. But in the end wattage doesn't matter. Its the intensity of the light. And in the end it just pc's it looks like. I don't know.... Never seen...

How to keep calcium levels up!!

Im finding that liquid products for calcium and alkalinity are alot harder to use in a larger tank. I have a 20. I for the longest time could not get my calcium up. I had bought some liquid calcium and dosed enough calcium for a 200 gallon tank in 2 days and barely made a dent. It finally...

    VHO Lighting question

I think 50/50 bulbs are actinic and 6.5k sometimes.... I saw once that it definitely was not a 10k white. Try the 10k white and actinic. Much more blueish. I have heard 20k is really blue and actinic is even bluer.... BTW 6.5k is more reddish/yellow so go higher in the spectrum.

    is my Monti healthy...

The polyps should extend a millimeter or 2. Inbetween there. You should see a distinct polyp on the end. Almost like a miniature goniopora or alveopora stalk just WAY smaller. Thats about it. I was told the polyps don't generate the color the actual skeleton does.... If it turns brown or...

    Sixline missing!?!?!

If you have hermits or shrimp and he's dead youll never see him again. They can make short work of a body. Its possible the damsels chased him into a hole and he scared himself to death.

    actinic or magtinic

When buying bulbs just make sure you find out what spectrum the bulbs put out. Thats all thats important, that and it should fit your lighting fixture. The name of the bulb is just a catchy thing so that you remember it.....

    kalkwasser for corals

Try and invest in powders where you can. Seachem is good for the powders. Liquids just don't seem to do the trick unless its trace elements. Powders are much more heavy duty so be careful not to overdo things....

    Blood Shrimp = Thumbs Down.

Sorry rye.... Fire Shrimp are NOT good in a big tank. They find their caves and hang out till you either feed or night falls. I would not recommend one in anything over a 29 gallon..... Even then that may be to big. I used to have one in my 12 and it was great cause i could always see him...

    A good book?

Jullian Sprungs coral book is also a good reference for names and id's It will give you ideas on what they eat, placing, and water flow, etc. etc. Keep in mind its a very loose reference and his recommendations for everything in there are probably better taken at the upper end of the...

Talk to Marineland. They make light combo upgrades. Here's what you can do with your twelve and 30 watts of flourescents which is one of the upgrades they sell. Mine was 50 to my door i think may be different today. I got mine a year ago. BTW my tank doesn't look like this any more. I...
