    Astrowars

I had to restart. I found out that I landed in a system in which the other three players were all from the same alliance and I was far from the main group. I am now much closer to one of our groups. My new coordinates are: (39,-56). If anyone is joining now, let us know and we will try to...

    Astrowars

What are everyone's coordinates and usernames? I am at -21/51. I am elfdoctors in the game also. @fishy411 - I had some difficulty registering initially. That is part of the reason why I suggested that people register early. The system may be overloaded with people trying to have multiple...

    Astrowars

Any one who is interested in playing with us for this round of Astrowars should sign in at 5:00 pm EST on Wednesday, January 5th. The game is much easier to master if you have a local ally. The NEMO alliance has lost most of its reefers. The majority of the remaining members do not keep...

    Nick Saban Is A Trader!

I think you meant Traitor. I was a little surprised that LSU kept him as the head coach for the bowl game after he signed a contract to leave. I thought the game turned out great! :D :D :D I did my residency at the University of Iowa. Go Hawkeyes!

    Using Meds in the tank

Medications to treat specific ailments should only used within a quarantine tank. Few successful marine aquarists use them in their display tanks. Most of the additives that you refer to would better be classified as nutritional supplements. Some of these are replacing minerals that are used up...

Minnesotan wants to order online. Too Cold???

I live more than an hour north of the Twin Cities. I have had several orders delivered during the middle of last winter without any problems. From what I recall tracking my packages, my shipments have always arrived in Minneapolis before 9am so they should be available soon after that. They...

    Why do we do this?

There are many mineral components to properly mixed saltwater. Some of these dissolve right away and some take much longer to dissolve. If everything is not completely dissolved, your water chemistries will not be ideal. To dissolve salts more quickly, the water should be heated and mixed. The...

    Ich in QT

You have to assume that both fish have been infected. You should treat them both. Tangs are ich "magnets" and will always seem to have a much worse case. However, if you do not treat the six-line at the same time, you risk reinfecting the sailfin when you reintroduce them into your display.

    Saltwaterfish.com inventory?

They may be waiting until after the holidays. Last year, they closed for two weeks around the holidays. The week before they closed, they had a sale in which most items were ~50% off as I recall.

    ick on the tangs

Some of the bottled cures only work for a portion of the lifecycle so they require treatment thoughout an entire lifecycle with constant levels of the medication. Occasionally people seem happy with the results, but these are not reliable. I used hyposalinity for my tank before I had my QT set...

Got an issue with my cleaner shrimp...

Shrimp are notoriously difficult to acclimate. The LFS owner didn't know what he was talking about if he told you to only acclimate for 30 minutes. This site recommends 2+ hours. I usually do a 6 hour acclimation for shrimp and starfish as these organisms are among the most likely to die from...

    Black Spots On Yellow Tang

Check out the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum. There is a section about how to do formalin baths. Be careful with the medication as it can be toxic to humans. There is also a picture of black ich in the diseased fish sticky that your should check out.

    Hyposalinity

That is an acceptable choice to follow until your refractometer arrives. This is exactly what I did while I was in the same situation. Keeping the fish in this lower salinity water will not kill your fish. And while it may not kill ich, it will sure inhibit its growth allowing your fish a...

    Black Spots On Yellow Tang

How big are the spots? If they are small, the most likely diagnosis is one of the two organisms that can cause black ich. I believe that the preferred treatment, regardless of which organism you have, is formalin baths.

    Fish Questions

About 1 in 10 will eventually eat frozen food such as brine shrimp. Otherwise, these fish need live food, usually copepods which reproduce in your live rock. You should have a mature tank with over 100 pounds of live rock.

    The Incredibles

I thought the beginning was somewhat slow. After that, the action kept building and really drew you in. My kids, ages 6 and 4, were completely enraptured and burst out laughing several times. :D The whole family thought that we would have to get this movie when it comes out on DVD. If the Polar...
