Def enough light...My friend has a 120g with 2x250w MHs and its doing great (been running for a year now problem free) I also just upgraded as well to a 250w 20k pendant on my 65g and one HQI bulb is enough for my entire tank, :happyfish

I just did the same thing, although not retro-fit, I bought an aquamedic HQI pendant 250w with a 20k AB bulb and screwed the pendant right into the canopy...I had a friend run a cross brace across the canopy in the middle and mounted it alittle off center into that...I did run into a problem...

I am having the same debate right now with almost the same dimensions in mind....Others have told me to look into the Tunze Skimmer 9005 model...The footprint on that one looks perfect but havent many things about the skimmer, i wouldnt go for the coralifes, heard bad things esp if you dont plan...

I agree with the regular water changes and not needing to dose any supplements, but in all fairness i would never use any marc weiss products, had a bad experience with there products and would never use again (helped create a severe algae bloom)... Here is what i use occasionally in my system...

I am doing the same thing eventually with my 65g tank...I just upgraded from PC's to an AquaMedic 250w HQI 20k and i have it offset to the left of the center brace now...I originally had it in the center but it literally was sitting ontop of the center brace and started to melt it away...

The lighting should be sufficient enough, but again you are right on that boarderline with mim light esp for anything else...the white is def die off of the exsisting coraline, but with those rocks near any rocks that dont have coraline it will help seed new rocks for additional coraline...

WoW is all I can say, This is due to the fact that I had the worst thing happen to me in the hobby of marine fish/reefing...Green Tank Syndrome!!! Never thought i would see the day i came home to find my tank Pea Soup Green...I am very serious when i say i couldnt see anything in the tank...

I know a guy who started off this way with his 125 and wow with his setup and the amount of different corals he had i could care less about fish too! But after awhile the hobby bites back and the need for new things always occurs, so in his case he got to saddle bacs (clowns) and 2 engineer...

Sounds like die off, which usually happens in the new tank stages....you get some die off and than you get algae growth again, some people regain the coraline and some dont for days/weeks/months etc...eventually if your tank is well maintained it will come back....Also may be from your lighting...

Yeah looks like its doubling itself, chances are the torch wont grow a new head but will double its tentacles from time to time, could also be the feeding tentacles coming out.... ***)

Capanella's aka Kenya trees are the worst and they always frag themselves so you never really get rid of them completely...lol....

And just from my experience get rid of the bio-balls bc from what ive learned they are part of your nitrate factory problem, get a filter sock or some poly pad if that can work.....and if all else fails try some algone from there website, worked for me when i used and also helps clarify the water!!!

and i would get rid of that dead sand if you can before you put those rocks in, could cause a headache for you down the road (trust me, look up hydrogen sulfide/sulfate incidents)...why not start out completely fresh might as well since u went for the big order on the rocks... And i agree with...
