yes you can just pull the cup off.... or you can hook up the drain line set a 2 liter bottle next to it and it catches the skimmings for you ... put the lid on the 2 liter and throw it away... simple

well you could throw in a raw shrimp to jump start the cycle... you will see a good spike in the amonia after that... then you will know for sure it has started.

I have the 220 gallon model. When mine was breaking in I had to keep an eye on it but it is drilled and comes with a drain line for the collection cup....now it is on auto-pilot no problems and very quiet.

They might be ok... i have 2 in a 95 ..but you need to find the reason for the hair algae in the first place. How does the water test? How long are the lights on and what kind of lights are they? is the tank in direct sunlight? are you using ro/di water? how long has the tank been setup? Once...

They do need the good lights to survive....

They do make epoxy you can use but I have good results by just trying to lock the pieces together naturally...by using the shape of the rock to kinda key into each other.
