    Bullying Tomato Clown?

How big is your tank? Tomato's don't play well with others if there isn't enough space. Sometimes rearranging your rock work works to tame aggression. Everyone has to find a new home. Good Luck!

    Raw Shrimp- Respond Fast PLZ

A couple of medium size should be fine. How much rock do you have in the tank? Is it cured? If you've just started and added cured live rock, directly from a fish store, you don't even need the raw shrimp step. If it's uncured rock, you don't need the shrimp cuz as the rock cures you build...

    clowns with clowns

I think it depends on the personality of the fish. In my 125 I have a perc, skunk and large tomatoe. They all seem to get along fine, but then again, they have their own space. I have a gold stripe in a 10 gallon in my office at work and wouldn't put ANY fish in there with him. Just plain...

    My Water Is Brown!!!

The frozen algae cube things ;-) might be part of the problem. What fish do you have? Most of the smaller fish can get enough algae from the rocks. Only time I would supplement would be if you have tangs and then sheet algae seems to work better. Also, if using frozen it's best to rinse...

    My Water Is Brown!!!

How do the filter pads look on your hang filters? Are they turning brown as well? It sounds like you have high levels of undisolved organics. How much are you feeding? What type of food are you feeding? The best solution if food isn't the problem is continued water changes and a skimmer when...

    bio-balls:doing a move

If you're like most of us you have empty salt buckets around. Just toss the balls in a bucket with water from your tank. That will keep them wet and safe. Good Luck with the move.

    Proper Lighting??

Light is just one of many factors. Water quality, water movement, available minerals and food supply, coral placement to name a few. The concentration of light in your nano is probably higher than in your larger tank. Not as deep, animals closer to light etc. Take a look at the other factors...

    skimmer trouble

Give it time. As new foam is created it pushes the old foam up. The amount and consistency will be determined by the amount of disolved organics in your water. If you're geting foam, just stay with it. Good Luck!

    Long Nose Butterflfy

As with any butterfly. Best kept in a very mature, stable and clean tank. Haven't heard of many people having success keeping them for long periods. I'd say leave them for the most experienced and meticulous enthusiastists. Unless that is you then go for it.

    Which would you pick

Sailfin will get too big. I like the 3 yellow idea. By the way, that valentini may not be a good choice for a reef set up. Likely to pick on shrimp, snails and crabs. Good Luck with the new set up.

    Alternative to silicon bands

Thanks for the response. You make a good point but the local LFS doesn't carry them. I can get them on line but didn't really need anything else right now to make shipping worthwhile. May be the only way to go though. Cheers

    Lighting Question

The MH HQI lighting is going to give you more punch than pcs. If you like the look of actinics and want the reported good effects of actinic on light loving corals then you would probably want both. That's the way most folks go. HQI for power and punch; actinics for coral benefit and look.

    Alternative to silicon bands

For those of you that have orbit or coralife fixtures, have you found a replacement for the silicon bands that hold the pcs in place? Anyone with experience of not using the bands and the bulbs slipping out of place? TIA

ASM g2 and typhoon III, who has them?

I have a typhoon 3 and love it. The instructions that come with it are pretty good. The tech support from air water ice is outstanding. If you need any help they will answer any questions you have. Good luck with your new toys!

Your FAVORITE fish...I could pick yours!

Are you going reef, fowlr or aggressive. That decision needs to be made first. I too love the fairy wrasses for their beauty and constant swimming. I also like the tomato clowns for their color and personality.

Will these fish get along together

Snowflake eels are of the pebbletooth variety. Basically crustacean feeders. I have't heard of one taking on a fish. I think your stocking with angel, clown, sfe would work with yet another small fish like a flame.

    Ok I'm Giving Up !!!!

The amount of light isn't that much different, but, you have twice as many replacement bulbs to buy with the 2 36" fixtures. Just my $.02

    topping off tank question

It's best to top off often if you're losing water through evaporation. You're better off topping of 1/2 to 1 gallon than waiting until you need 2 or 3. With small additions you should affect your salinity too much and any change will be small.
